Peter Goldmark

Peter, a 26 year old Hungarian, joined Pye in 1932 to set up TV development.

He worked on an electronic scanning approach using cathode ray tubes.

But Pye temporarily shut down this work in 1933, and Peter went to CBS (Columbia Broadcast System) in the USA, where amongst other innovations he developed the LP record.

When Pye restarted TV development in 1934, they built on Peter’s earlier work.

Pye used his sequential TV technology to develop Pye’s move into Colour TV in 1949.
